Established in 2008 Urban City Anglers (UCA) is an outreach branch of Social & Economic Development for Men, Women and Children whose mission is targeting inner city children from the Atlanta metropolitan area to expand their view of the world and ensure the well-being of future generations through the forgotten heritage of fishing

Program Description

    The core concept of UCA is to show our children another aspect of the Wide World of sports. There are more sports than just basketball, football, soccer, etc… Angling has been around for many, many years and the way people fish is always changing. UCA exposes the inner city youth to wide variety of techniques, fish types and places to fish. We run 20-25 trips a year which are fully staffed and organized by dedicated volunteers, including volunteer "certified leaders" who are certified in basic First Aid and CPR.

    Our destinations are usually within an hours drive from Atlanta. Most of these are day trips, which will be fishing tours, going to different fisheries, training sites for safety, and tournaments. We also conduct overnight camping trips on weekends during the cooler months.

    UCA also works to promote awareness of and interest in conservation and preservation efforts in Georgia. Each year we conduct a number of service outings ranging from tree plantings to beach or river cleanups.
